Security

We are well aware of the importance of peace and security in attracting more local and foreign private investment and realising Niger State’s economic potential. Kidnapping and banditry, youth unrest, communal conflicts, and any other sort of security breach that threatens our communities and our social and economic base must be attacked head-on if they are to be drastically reduced.
The goal is to create a climate that is conducive to business expansion, wealth generation, and job creation, and this will be achieved through a wide range of programmes and actions. In order to aid the government in intelligence collecting, conflict resolution, and the preventative monitoring, reporting, and intervention of security breaches within the state of Niger, it is required to form a Niger State Security Committee and fund the appropriate Taskforce.

In accordance with this plan, we will pay close attention to the following points:

• Providing sufficient protection for people and their possessions is a top priority.
Niger State will install a comprehensive system of safety infrastructure to ensure it is a secure haven for both domestic and international businesses.
In order to ensure the protection of our people and resources, we will not only employ security specialists who will use technology to supplement the work of security agencies in Niger state, but we will also assume responsibility for this matter. With this, we can protect ourselves from any potential danger.

• In order to make young people more productive and to reduce all sorts of disruptive behaviour, we will aim to increase youth engagement and participation in economic activities within communities.

• Priority should be given to establishing a community security information gathering and resource centre, and the necessary laws should be implemented to make this a reality.
Traditional institutions should be actively engaged, and a reward system for keeping the peace in their communities should be introduced at regular intervals.
