Biography

A member of the House of Representatives for the third time, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago represents the Chachanga Federal Constituency of Niger State. He is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor in the upcoming 2023 elections also.

On February 22, 1974, he was born to the famous TECHNO family with parents of Nupe ancestry in the city of Minna, Niger State. His late parents father Alhaji Muhammadu Mustapha (Baraden Nupe) and Hajiya Aishat Mohammed belonged to two distinct royal families: the Masaba of Bida, on his paternal side, and the Jantabo of Lapai on his maternal side.

After graduating from Marafa Primary School Minna with a First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1985, he continued his education at the prestigious Federal Government College, Jos, where he earned his West African School Certificate.

Hon. Bago studied political science at Uthman Dan Fodio University in Sokoto, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. In addition, he earned an MBA in Economics from Ambrose Ali University in Ekpoma in 2003 and an Master of Science in Finance from University of Calabar in 2005. These were among his several postgraduate diplomas and master’s degrees. He graduated in 2014 with honours from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
